Message from PMA Chairperson

As the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association, we are honoured to join our partners in convening the Zimbabwe Pharmaceutical Industry Conference 2026 under the theme “Strengthening Zimbabwe’s Pharma Ecosystem for Resilience and Sustainability.” The pharmaceutical sector is a critical pillar of Zimbabwe’s health system, economic development and national security.

Recent global and regional disruptions have demonstrated the importance of building resilient local and regional pharmaceutical manufacturing capacity, strengthening supply chains, promoting quality and innovation, and ensuring sustainable access to safe, effective and affordable medicines. This conference provides an important platform for industry as a whole, government, regulators, healthcare professionals, academia, development partners and other stakeholders to engage in constructive dialogue on how we can transform Zimbabwe’s pharmaceutical ecosystem.

As manufacturers, we remain committed to investing in local production, quality assurance, technology, skills development and innovation, while working collaboratively with all stakeholders to address regulatory, financing, procurement, infrastructure and market-access challenges.

We believe that a stronger pharmaceutical manufacturing sector will not only improve medicine security and health outcomes, but also create opportunities for industrialization, employment, investment and economic growth. We therefore look forward to a conference that moves beyond dialogue to practical partnerships and actionable commitments that will strengthen Zimbabwe’s pharmaceutical industry and build a more resilient, sustainable and self-reliant health system for the future.

PMA Chairperson
